List comparison and merger
Enter 1 item per line in the left and right lists, remove duplicates, and merge them into one list. Check items found only on the left, only on the right, or in both, select the items to keep, and copy the result or save it as TXT.
What you can do
Combine without duplicates
Merge the left and right lists into one. You can also use this to remove duplicates from a list entered on just one side.
Keep only the items you need
Choose from 3 groups: left only, both, and right only. You can select entire groups or individual items.
How to use
Enter lists
Type or paste one item per line on the left and right. You can also paste a single spreadsheet column as is.
Choose how to combine
To keep every item, select “Combine everything into one”. To review the items to keep, select “Compare and choose”.
Select items if needed
Use the checkbox by a group name to select or deselect its items together. Merge the selected items.
Get results
Copy the merged list or save it as merged-list.txt. Run the process again after changing the input or settings.
When to use it
Check missing names or product numbers
Compare old and new lists and extract items found on only one side.
Combine multiple lists
Combine items duplicated across the left and right lists into one and get a single list.
How matching items and order are determined
Unit of comparison
Each entire line is compared as one item. Pasting a table with multiple columns or CSV does not compare a specified column.
Duplicates and blank lines
Items judged to match are combined into one, and whitespace-only lines are removed. Trimming leading and trailing whitespace is enabled by default.
Character differences
Letter case is distinguished by default. You can treat it as equivalent if needed, but full-width and half-width characters or whitespace within strings are not normalized automatically.
Spelling and order that are kept
The first spelling and order found on the left take priority, followed by right-only items in their order on the right. No automatic sorting, such as Japanese syllabary order, is performed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use it with input on just one side?
Yes. You can remove duplicates from a list entered on only one side. You cannot run the process when both sides are empty or contain only whitespace.
Can I extract only the items found in both lists?
In “Compare and choose”, deselect the left-only and right-only items, then merge the items found in both lists.
What happens if the same item appears multiple times?
They are combined into one item according to the comparison settings. Shared items keep the first spelling found on the left.
Can I use the previous result after changing the selection?
Changing the selection hides the previous merged result. Select “Merge selected items” again to create a result from the current selection.
