Flow rate converter

Specify a volumetric flow rate and its source and target units to convert to L/min, m³/h, GPM, CFM and more. US GPM and Imperial GPM are distinguished. Copy the converted result in the chosen unit.

US GPM and Imperial GPM are different units.

What you can do

Use consistent volume & time units

Convert volumetric flow rates per second, minute or hour to the unit you need.

Distinguish US & Imperial gallons when converting

Select US GPM or Imperial GPM separately to compare using the same definition as your document.

How to use

  1. Enter the flow rate & source unit

Enter the value from your document and select a unit with the matching combination of volume and time.

  2. Choose the target unit

Specify the unit you want to compare. For GPM, also check whether it is US or Imperial.

  3. Check the conversion result

Select “Convert” and check the original conditions and result. Copy it if needed.

Useful for

Compare equipment specifications in the same unit

Convert volumetric flow rates written in units such as L/min and m³/h to the same unit to compare documents.

Convert flow rate notation from overseas sources

Use this to express GPM or CFM values in the units used by your documents.

Definitions of flow rate & units

Convert both volume & time

L/min means liters per minute, and m³/h means cubic meters per hour. 100L/min equals 6m³/h.

US & Imperial gallons differ

One US liquid gallon is 3.785411784L, while one Imperial gallon is 4.54609L. If the unit is only written as GPM, check the definition in your document.

Differences from mass flow & reference conditions

This tool converts volumetric flow rate units. It does not include density-based conversion to kg/s or corrections for gas conditions based on temperature and pressure.

Frequently asked questions

What does CFM mean?

It means cubic feet per minute. The calculation uses the international foot, with 1CFM = 28.316846592L/min.

Are US and Imperial GPM the same?

They use different definitions of a gallon, so the flow rate differs even with the same numerical value. Choose the one used in your source document.

Can I also convert flow rates to standard conditions?

This tool only converts unit scale factors. It does not apply corrections using conditions such as temperature or pressure.
