Video rotation

Rotate a sideways or upside-down video to an orientation that is easier to watch. Adjust it by rotating 90 degrees left or right or entering a numerical angle, check the rotated dimensions and padding background color, then save it without cutting off the content.

Advanced settingsMP4 · 1280 × 720 · Standard

The color of the padding around the video when it is rotated to a diagonal angle.

Output dimensions1280 × 720 px

What you can do

Rotate in 90-degree steps or specify an angle

Adjust orientation by rotating left or right in 90-degree steps, or entering a value from 0 to 360 degrees.

Save at dimensions that do not crop the video

Check the width and height after rotation. For rotation at an oblique angle, you can specify the background color of the padding.

How to use

  1. Select a video

Select the video whose orientation you want to correct.

  2. Adjust orientation and angle

Rotate left or right by 90 degrees or enter an angle, then check the preview and output dimensions. Change the padding background color if needed.

  3. Save the rotated video

Play the video to check that it has the desired orientation, then create and save the video.

Useful when

Correct a video recorded sideways

Rotate footage recorded in an unintended orientation into a direction that is easier to view.

Rotate upside-down footage

Rotate an upside-down video by 180 degrees to align it with the desired orientation.

Rotation angle, output dimensions, and padding

90-degree rotation and angle input use the same setting

Each rotation using the left or right button also changes the angle. To make fine adjustments to the tilt, enter the angle directly.

Rotating changes the output dimensions

At 90 or 270 degrees, width and height are swapped. At oblique angles, padding is added to fit the video without cropping it.

This differs from correcting a mirror image

Rotation turns the orientation of the frame. If left and right are reversed like a mirror image, use Flip Video.

Frequently asked questions

Can I specify an angle instead of rotating in 90-degree steps?

Yes. You can enter a value from 0 to 360 degrees. Check the tilt in the preview.

Do I also use rotation to correct a mirror image?

For a mirror image, flip horizontally using “Flip Video.” Use rotation when the video is sideways or upside down.
