Animation frame extractor
Choose one GIF, WebP, PNG/APNG or TIFF image and extract a selected frame or every frame as still images. Frame numbering starts at 1. Adjust PNG, JPEG or WebP output, dimensions and quality, check the results, then save them individually or as a ZIP.
What you can do
Extract one frame
Enter a frame number starting at 1 to turn a particular expression or moment into a still image.
Create numbered images of all frames
Extract every frame in its original order. Save results individually or package the numbered files in a ZIP.
Save in the format and dimensions you need
Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP and adjust width, height, quality or transparency as needed.
How to use
Add one image
Choose a GIF, WebP, PNG/APNG or TIFF file, or load it from a public URL.
Choose frames and output settings
Enter a frame number to extract one image. Choose All frames for the complete sequence, then check the save format and advanced settings.
Extract and save
Check the output images and save the ones you need. Save the ZIP to download multiple results together.
Useful when
Making documents or thumbnails
Turn a moment from an animation into a still image for a document or image list.
Comparing the motion sequence
Extract every frame to check transitions and details one image at a time.
Separating pages in a TIFF
Save each page within a TIFF as an independent image.
Frames and still images
Frames are numbered in display order
The first frame is 1, the next is 2. A number beyond the frames contained in the image cannot be extracted. If you do not know the number you need, extract all frames to check their order.
Later frames include compositing
Some animations store only changes from the preceding frame. Extraction applies the animation's compositing and disposal instructions before saving the image.
Still images have no playback speed
Results are still PNG, JPEG or WebP images, so animation timing and loop counts are not carried into them. This page does not create files that play the original animation.
Check transparency and the background
PNG and WebP can keep transparency. JPEG removes transparency, so choose a background color and check the result.
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract a frame other than the first?
Choose Selected frame and enter a frame number starting at 1. A number outside the image's available range fails.
Can I save all frames together?
All frames extracts images in their original order. With two or more results, you can save the numbered files as a ZIP. Save a single result individually.
Can I use a still PNG?
Yes. A still image is treated as one frame, which you can extract with frame number 1. Frame number 2 or higher fails.
Does this change the original animation?
It creates new still images without overwriting the original file. It does not change playback durations or loop counts.
