Reduce an image to a specified KB limit or less

Choose 1 image and specify the destination’s file size limit in KB. JPEG and WebP adjust the file size through quality and, when needed, resizing; PNG adjusts it through dimensions. Check the appearance and file size, then save a JPEG, PNG, or WebP at or below the limit. Metadata is removed, and the image is saved as a still image.

You can leave these fields blank. The image fits within the specified bounds while keeping its aspect ratio, without being enlarged. It may be reduced further to meet the file size limit.

In JPEG, transparent areas are filled with this color.

Useful for

Submit to an application form

Adjust an attached image to the application recipient's file size limit.

Reduce an attached image's file size

Prepare an image to send to the recipient within the specified number of KB.

Differences between file size, dimensions, and format

KB measures file size

This tool treats 1 KB as 1,000 B. If the recipient displays file size differently, check the specified value and actual file size.

Dimensions may change too

JPEG and WebP first adjust quality, then reduce dimensions if the file still does not fit. PNG reduces file size by adjusting dimensions, so the image may become smaller.

Formats and transparent areas

JPEG fills transparent areas with the background color. PNG and WebP preserve transparency. Choose the required format according to the recipient's requirements.

Save as a still image

Correct the orientation and save without metadata such as shooting information. If an animated image is provided, its first frame is used as a still image.

Frequently asked questions

What if it does not fit the target file size?

Increase the file size limit or change the save format and try again. A file that does not meet the limit is never saved as a successful result.

Will the image dimensions change too?

The image may be reduced while preserving its aspect ratio to meet the file size limit. Width and height in advanced settings are maximum limits, not fixed output dimensions.

Will it be exactly the specified number of KB?

The process aims for the specified size or less. It may not produce the exact file size. Check the result's actual size.
