Color palette generator
Choose a base color and a scheme to create a two- or three-color palette. Use complementary, analogous, triadic or split complementary hues, then copy individual HEX codes or save the list as text.
What you can do
Create palettes with four schemes
Choose complementary, analogous, triadic or split complementary hues while retaining the base color saturation and lightness.
Get each color code
Review swatches and HEX codes, copy each code or save the list in display order as palette.txt.
Use a candidate as the next base
Select Use as base on a candidate, then generate a new palette.
How to use
Enter the base color
Choose HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV or CMYK and enter its values, or use the color picker.
Choose a scheme
Complementary produces two colors. Analogous, triadic and split complementary produce three.
Create a palette
Select Create palette to review swatches and HEX codes. Changing the scheme after generation updates the palette from the confirmed base color.
Get the codes
Copy individual codes, copy all or save as TXT. Generate again after changing the base color.
When this helps
Explore accent color candidates
Use a base color from your page or design to compare different hue relationships.
Keep palette codes in your notes
Copy or save the HEX list in display order for use in a design tool.
Color schemes and output limits
Four hue relationships
Complementary uses a hue 180 degrees from the base. Analogous uses hues 30 degrees either side, triadic uses 120-degree steps, and split complementary uses offsets of 150 and 210 degrees. The analogous base color appears in the middle.
Saturation and lightness stay the same
The palette shifts hue in HSL while retaining saturation and lightness. Results are rounded to 8-bit RGB and shown as HEX. Achromatic colors may produce repeated HEX values; the color count and order are retained.
Check readability separately
Hue-based palettes do not guarantee text contrast or readability. Use the contrast checker for each text-and-background pair.
Questions and answers
Why can the same color appear more than once?
Changing hue can produce identical HEX values for achromatic colors. Results are not adjusted or deduplicated; the scheme color count and order are retained.
Does copying a color change the base?
Copying does not change it. Use as base switches the input to HEX and clears the previous palette. Select Create palette to generate again.
Can I save CSS variables or an image?
Output is limited to copying HEX codes and saving palette.txt. CSS variables and image exports are not provided.
