Adjust submission images to specified dimensions and file size
Choose 1 still image for an application or registration, then specify the width, height, and file size limit required by the recipient. Choose exact dimensions or fit within the limits while preserving the aspect ratio, check the padding and result, and save as JPEG or PNG. An error occurs if the file size limit cannot be met while keeping the specified dimensions.
What you can do
Set dimensions and file size together
Specify width and height in pixels and file size in KB. You can leave dimensions blank if none are required.
Distinguish exact dimensions from maximum dimensions
“Exact size” creates the frame at the specified dimensions. “Within specified size” preserves the aspect ratio and reduces the image only when necessary.
How to use
Choose an image to submit
Choose 1 still image for an application or registration.
Enter the recipient's requirements
Enter the width, height, and file size limit, then choose exact size or fit within the limits.
Check actual dimensions and file size
Check the padding and text readability, save the result, and upload it to the recipient.
Useful when
Meet an application form's image requirements
Create a file that meets the submission destination's requirements, such as “1000 × 1000 px, 100 KB or less”.
Avoid making images too small
If only maximum dimensions are specified, adjust within those dimensions while preserving the original aspect ratio.
What to watch for when meeting submission requirements
Specify just width or height
With exact size, entering only one side calculates the other from the original image's aspect ratio. If both fields are blank, the original dimensions are used as a reference.
When file size and dimensions cannot both be met
An error occurs if file size cannot be reduced while keeping the specified dimensions. Increase the file size limit or allow reduction with “Within specified size”.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to dimensions left blank?
Blank fields are not treated as 0 pixels. The original image dimensions are used as a reference; if only one side is specified, it is adjusted according to the selected method.
Is padding added when fitting within a specified size?
Output uses the actual dimensions with the aspect ratio preserved, so no padding is added to match the specified frame size. The image is not enlarged beyond the original.
Can I remove a photo's background?
This is not a background removal feature. In advanced settings, you can change the padding used to fit the frame and the background color for transparent areas.
