Convert WebP to PNG
Convert WebP logos or cutout images to PNG while preserving their original transparent areas. Add multiple images from files or folders, specify dimensions if needed, check the finished images and file sizes, and save them individually or as a ZIP. The default is the original size, and animated WebP becomes the first still frame.
What you can do
Convert to PNG while preserving transparency
Save with the WebP's transparent areas preserved. The checkerboard in the preview is for checking transparency and is not included in the image.
Convert multiple images together
Use a shared format and dimensions, and apply individual settings only to images that need them. Save results individually or as a ZIP.
How to use
Add image
Select WebP files or add them from a folder.
Check output settings
PNG is already selected. Open advanced settings only if needed to change the dimensions.
Convert and save
Check the converted images, dimensions, and file sizes, then save them individually. Results for multiple files can also be downloaded as a ZIP.
When this is useful
Add a transparent logo to documents
Convert a WebP logo to PNG and position it so it blends with the document background.
Use as an overlay in image editing
Overlay a PNG that retains transparency on another image using an image editor that supports PNG.
Changes to transparency, quality, and motion
Converting to PNG does not restore lost detail
If the original WebP uses lossy compression, converting it to PNG does not restore lost image quality.
Animated WebP becomes its first frame
The default settings for this use case save still images. Converting an animated WebP does not preserve motion; it saves the first frame.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remove the checkerboard background?
No. The checkerboard is a display used to check transparent areas and is not saved in the PNG.
Will the file be smaller than the original WebP?
Not necessarily. Changing the format may increase the file size, so check the size of the result.
Will the animation also be preserved?
In this conversion to JPG or PNG, the first frame becomes a still image. To preserve motion, use the original WebP or a format that supports animation.
